Coagulation

Description

Coagulation is the process by which blood forms clots to stop bleeding from a damaged blood vessel. It involves a complex series of steps in which various blood clotting factors interact to form a fibrin clot. This process is regulated by a delicate balance of procoagulant and anticoagulant factors. Dysfunction of the coagulation system can result in bleeding disorders or thrombotic events such as deep vein thrombosis and stroke.
